The RocketShift Origin Story
Twenty years on the floor, a spreadsheet that almost worked, a weekend that changed the build, and why RocketShift exists.
Read the noteField Notes
Field Notes is RocketShift’s public journal for real operating lessons: what works on a busy shift, what managers catch that whiteboards miss, and how the product stays honest. Monthly when there’s something worth saying. Crew-sourced when the insight belongs to the crew. Each note starts with a short lede — the rest is on the note itself. Who builds this lives at the bottom of this page.

Twenty years on the floor, a spreadsheet that almost worked, a weekend that changed the build, and why RocketShift exists.
Read the noteDepth beats a longer homepage. Field Notes gives RocketShift somewhere true to put floor lessons, product rationale, and multi-store reality — the same substance search engines and operators both need.
The shelf stays sparse on purpose. The next piece ships when it’s true.
Drafting
Why floor managers are often right, and how RocketShift tries to earn trust by shipping what survives a Tuesday rush.
Queued
How Crew-sourced ideas become product — and why public credit is part of the culture thesis.

Who builds this
Jason Armstrong started RocketShift after 22 years of small-business ownership, including two The UPS Store locations in Southeast Texas. The product page stays about the product. The named story lives here.
It comes from real operating work: the front counter, inventory, restrooms, trash, QuickBooks, hiring, training, schedules, and trying to keep the business moving without hovering over every shift.
The longer origin story is the first Field Note. Modern tools help one experienced operator ship faster than a traditional product team — so the software can stay close to the floor. The goal is not software that replaces people. The goal is software that helps small teams work with more clarity, accountability, and momentum.
